An old quote, that's for sure, but a very wise one to recall for today can be a day of new beginning — the end of the old — the start of the fresh and the new! All of us have something that we need to cast aside in favor of walking lighter in this old world of ours. Anything that is weighing you down? Anyone you need to forgive? Any issue that needs to be resolved? Take a moment to examine what's going on in your heart and soul and see if you really like what you see. If so, that's great! If not, why not decide to tweak your life to match your thoughts. I like the scripture that says for us to 'lay aside every weight that hinders us from running the race” — that's probably in most all religious writings — for who would dare run a race while wearing lead weights? or dressed in an evening gown? or tuxedo? or having just had a fight with their spouse? Focus is on the race for every true runner; they travel light and so should we in this race of life — it's time to cast aside every hindrance for today IS the first day of the rest of your life...and the race is already in progress. Finish strong!
